Loose Ends
Who are the "Loose Ends"?
Loose 'Ends' began in 2018 as an opportunity for local residents to come together and socialise in a community setting. It was aimed primarily for those who felt they were at a Loose 'End' but who wanted to come out and meet new people or become part of a group that enjoyed similar activities. The meetings are held on a monthly basis in the Pavilion with a published programme of topics for each month. As some examples they can include Speakers providing interesting Talks, Representatives from the Emergency Services giving helpful and safety advice, Quiz Afternoons, Craft Afternoons, Table Top Games Sessions or Musical Entertainment.
In each yearly programme we try to include a Coach Outing to the Coast or a Place of Interest eg) Large Garden Centre, a Cream Tea and a Christmas Party. The programme is arranged from the feedback of the members based on the kind of things they enjoy. Hot drinks and biscuits are provided during each session.

Membership:
There is an annual membership fee of £5.00 and an entry fee of £3.00 for each meeting. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us.

September 2026 - The History of Firefighting in Kent
The Speaker for the advertised September meeting at Loose 'Ends' unfortunately was cancelled due to serious illness. One of our local residents, Clive Bradburn, volunteered at short notice to give a talk on The History of Fire Fighting in Kent. This was based on Clive's operational experience in the Fire Service as well as his more recent involvement at the Kent Fire Fighting Museum at the Woodlands Garden Centre near Sevenoaks.
It proved to be a very interesting talk to the 40 members in attendance. It gave an insight into the development of the fire service in the past, through to more modern times. At times it was emotional, talking about some of the local tragedies of the past that he was involved in but there were also some lighter moments that caused some amusement. At the end Clive was thanked by everyone there and Loose 'End's made a donation towards the Kent Fire Fighting Museum.
At our October meeting, John Leonel (Guitarist & Vocalist) will be entertaining us with some popular and nostalgic songs from the Fifties / Sixties / Seventies. etc.
This proved very popular when he visited last year. You are encouraged to sing a long, sit back and listen or perhaps put on your dancing shoes.
August 2026 - Watching The TV Detectives
The August meeting of Loose 'Ends' welcomed Peter Allen who gave a talk entitled “Watching The TV Detectives". This was in many ways a nostalgic look at the history of Fictional British TV Crime Fighters and Crime Drama. 30 members enjoyed a very interesting and entertaining talk that raised a lot of discussion during the Refreshment Break that followed.
The afternoon was rounded off with a Cryptic Quiz that centred on identifying the different locations in Loose from the clues given. This was very successful with most members achieving high scores.
Our next meeting is on Weds 16th September, 2pm to 4pm in the Loose Pavilion. Entry is £3.00 and there is an annual membership fee of £5.00.
Unfortunately due to illness there will be a change to the programme advertised and an alternative will be confirmed as soon as possible.
